Listen to Where Your Tyres Scrub and Your Engine Labours
When should you hear your tyres scrubbing and screeching, and most importantly when should you not?
When should you accept that your engine will struggle at low RPM, and when should you be utterly devastated that you allowed your engine to bog down?
Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could have a nice set of golden rules here… So I could say NEVER let your engine bog, and ALWAYS make your tyres screech.
Thing is, your engine is going to sound boggy at some point in a tight corner, and there are parts of a corner where screeching tyres are a good sign, and parts where it is the sound of a terrible and costly mistake.
The language here is a bit dramatic, ‘devastated’ and ‘terrible costly mistake’ - but deliberately slow. When your driving gets super refined, you really will be shocked if you hear your engine die or tyres scrub unnecessarily.
Hopefully I can accelerate you towards the high level expectations that will provoke pure self-loathing at such an error!
