Sponsors Need it - and You've Got it!!
Business people are bored, and fed up. They need to be a part of your story, because racing drivers are extremely inspirational. What you have is needed!
Here’s a quick rundown of what you will get from this weeks article:
1. How to Unlock a Sponsor's Deep-Rooted Desires and Challenges
2. How to Fuel Sponsors with Your Racing Inspiration and Energy
3. How to Help Sponsors Craft Their Legacy Through Your Racing Journey
When trying to go after sponsors, you are facing the greatest hurdle people have in all business pursuits. But for you, it’s far, far harder:
Imposter syndrome.
Genuinely successful business people with proper qualifications and track records of success, freeze. They have a crisis where their self doubts take over, and they feel like if their clients knew how useless they really were, and how all their success is a bunch of exaggeration and made up, they would be crushed.
This happens with serious professionals with real experience and real qualifications, feeling like they don’t belong, and aren’t worthy of the position they are in, and they freak out - they panic that they will get ‘found out’, and they have to soldier on through it.
They spend fortunes on solving it with coaching and consultants, therapists and all sorts.
But, they haven’t got a clue about what REAL imposter syndrome is, until they try to be a racing driver flogging a sponsorship proposal!!
Here’s what a kart driver faces, trying to sell a sponsorship deal to a savvy business owner:
So, you want me to take money away from my employees, and investments in the future, give you thousands, so the one or two people that see you on alpha live can almost make out the sticker on your go kart?
Now that is what will make anyone feel like an imposter - probably rightly so!
If you have been trying to sell sponsorship on that basis, then you have certainly shown you’ve got some serious guts, and you get a pat on the back from me. But you are really trying to sell something of no value, hoping to appeal to the chartable side of your target - and in that case you are competing with Oxfam, the RSPCA and the Red Cross, who all have more compelling sales pitches!
How you wouldn’t feel like an imposter in those circumstances I don’t know!
Instead you need a wildly different approach - you need them to feel that sponsoring such a magic and inspirational person as you, feeds their whole life and drives energy into their own business exploits. And business people desperately need that!
What sponsors need from you - and how to sell it and deliver it.
When you realise what you can offer a sponsor is desperately needed, then you are in no way an imposter, trying to sell something people do not need or want. You are helping them.
Jesus this kid is an inspiration, nobody in my life has this energy, determination and power. I need this person to succeed and I want to be part of it
